A keen observer of the evolution of filmmaking in Cameroon recently told TIPTOPSTARS that it’s Cameroon’s time to shine. He was not wrong! For quite some time, there is always at least a movie in gestation in Cameroon. As we write, there are quite a good number of them which will soon get out of the kitchen and be served on the dining table for consumers to savour what our now very inspired and determined filmmakers and artists have up their sleeves.

This April alone, there are several Cameroonian movies that have been lined up to be thrown into the market. To give the products a befitting welcome, their producers and production houses have planned crowd-puller premieres. In Cameroon, Kenneth Akoh and Stainless Picture Inc. are stitching up for the grand coming of Beyond the Storm, an epic movie that promises to send viewers clued to their TV sets. Editing of the first part of the film has been going on in a Douala suit and according to the producer, Beyond the Storm will be ready for consumption by the end of April 2012. Featuring in the movie are Quinta Eyong aka Mummy Queen, Ebako Derick alias Drick West Saint Charles, Roger Brice Sogbo, Raphael Matouke, Lucie Memba, Jay N and Sonny L.

Still in April, South Africa-based Fred Kenyati is set to slot in two of his latest productions into the film market – the much-awaited Trouble Kingdom (co-produced with Mairo Sanda, living in Atlanta, USA) and Xplosif Choppers, shot much earlier. Talking to us early last month, Kenyati said he held Troubled Kingdom in high esteem, reason why he shot the movie back home. It later happened that Troubled Kingdom was a movie Cameroonian film lovers were anxious to watch, following press reports on its production that mobilized a cream of fine filmmakers and artists. Starring in the movie are top-rated artists including Solange Yijika, Mairo Sanda, Chiatoh Collins, Nchifor Valery, Ruth Nkweti and Elynn Fesse Basil.

Meanwhile Xplosif Choppers, though unreleased, is already chopping a huge bunch of the hearts of movie fans. “I’m anxiously waiting for the movie which I’m convinced will be a great piece,” a regular visitor to www.tiptopstars.com wrote to the online magazine’s editor recently.

Also watch out for Elvis Tanwie’s Caught Within, produced by Dinga Quiniva and the still-to-come block buster recently shot in Limbe, starring Jim Iyke, directed by Neba Lawrence and produced by the ‘big boss’ Agbor Gilbert. Watch out for a special report on the said production coming up soon, only www.tiptopstars.com!
