The Cameroonian film industry will hardly forget November 2012. It has been a very eventful month. Apart from other entertainment rendezvous, movie premieres also made the month rich in events. After Akim Macauley’s Rage, produced by Kang Quintus and Trouble Kingdom, a Fred Kenyati and Mairo Sanda production directed by Neba Lawrence, here comes Dilemma. Dilemma, a short film shot earlier this year and produced by Jenet Agbor Manyi is scheduled for a crowd-puller premiere on November 30.

Cameroonian movies: Katrina emerges soon!

It’s now clear that the film sector in Cameroon has a bright future. News about the coming of new Cameroonian movies is phenomenal. Katrina is the name of the next child the industry is about to give birth to. It is a one-hour long film, already made and awaiting a series of premieres, billed for Kumba, Bamenda and Yaounde.

According to L.T Njeck, Katrina’s director who doubles as producer of the movie, the product shall be unveiled in Kumba on Saturday December 3, 2012. On Youth Day, February 11, the population of Bamenda shall be expected to turn out en masse to say welcome to this new Cameroonian movie. “We shall be organizing the third and last premiere for Katrina in March 2013, on a date to be announced,” Njeck revealed. Talking to TIPTOPSTARS’ Editor on the line to Soa, Yaounde, the producer of Katrina said they were expecting massive turn outs for all the events.

Both in quantity and quality, there is a glaring growth taking place to the utter satisfaction of the country’s culture promoters. And that there are many more films produced in the English, is a thing to write home about. On this score, Bamenda has been awake, feeding Cameroon with sellable movies, many of which have transcended the county’s borders and are being watched abroad with great appetite.

nightmare of a belief samule loeThe Nightmare of a Belief by Cameroonain filmmaker Samuel Loe which was first screened at the 11th Göttingen International Ethnographic Film Festival, has come out emergent in the category ‘Best student film’ at the 21st International Festival of Ethnological Film in Belgrade.

This year's festival organized by the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade was held from 11 to 15 October 2012, and was dedicated to the latest global films with ethnological themes. Over 90 films from 25 countries were selected -“ for my film to have been selected amongsts numerous entries, is already a success story for me “ Samuel Loe, who is currently in Cameroon, where he is working on another film told TIPTOPSTARS editor.
