missaThe pretty lady who will bear Cameroon’s flag at the maiden edition of Miss Central Africa International Pageant has been selected. TIPTOPSTARS will reveal her in next couple of days pending confirmation from organizers of the pre-selection which took place on Friday May 11, 2012 at Buea’s Hotel Residence Carlos in Muea. She will be crowned at an event billed for May 26.

The new Miss Central Africa Cameroon will be contesting with pageants from countries in the sub-region (Equatorial Guinea, Republic of the Congo, Chad, Gabon and Central Africa Republic) come August 2012.

According to its creators, the Miss Central Africa International Pageant is a beauty contest whose objective is to use arts and culture to enhance social integration within CEMAC states.

Perhaps, what is more salient about the story is that Cameroon will be hosting the maiden edition of the beauty contest. “It’s such an honour for our country and we are doing everything to live by what the sub region expects of Cameroon,” one of the people behind the organization told TIPTOPSTARS.

Known to be a birth place for extra-ordinarily pretty girls, Cameroon has for quite some time now paid much attention to the art of beauty, fashion designing and modeling. Many more young ladies are getting interest in it. Promoters of the art explain that beauty contests are meant to promote development, not mere shows of beautiful faces and other erroneous impressions people have. Rather, once elected, beauty queens are obliged to pick up tasks as social ambassador and get involved in disease and poverty alleviation projects. That the Miss Central Africa International Pageant beauty contest is aimed at promoting social integration is therefore a thing the sub-region should be proud of.
