The D-July

July is here! When Maybelle Boma, Anne Etape and other people who do the behind-the-scene tasks selected July 2012 as the month for the historic debut edition of the Cameroon Entertainment Awards, CEA, little did they know time was going to fly like the fast-shooter jet. Before they knew it, July had come. The bells of the much-awaited event have begun ringing as the CEA train now negotiates the last bend that rails on to DC’s famous Cramton. It is now a matter of three weekends or so and it will be D-Day. Much water has flown under the bridge and it is now clear the CEA, though yet to happen, has gone down into the annals as one of the most initiatives in Cameroon’s fast-growing entertainment industry. Or perhaps, that Maybelle Boma mustered courage to initiate and make it happen is one thing this passionate artist and lover of creative works shall take credit for. Here comes the D-July!

CEA gets second promo flyer

It’s been a steady ride on board the CEA bus. After the first promo flyer made public a couple of months ago, the organizing team has released the second. The succeeding flyer with an imposing CEA logo carries the images of football icon and Cameroonian-born striker Samuel Eto’o Fils. Eto’o it should be noted is beneficiary of CEA’s honorary award. Side-by-side with the popular sportsman is Patience Dabany, the Gabonese singer so cherished in Cameroon who is doubling as “Mother of the Awards”. Amongst other things, the promo flyer carries salient information such date, time, venue of the event and logistical directives. The flyer comes a couple of days after the official video of the CEA was beamed into homes world-wide via Internet.

CEA executive producer visits Cramton

For one thing CEA executive producers Maybelle Boma and Anne Etape understand how being serious is a serious issue. The two have not known a sound sleep since initiating the Cameroon Entertainment Awards. After networking and getting new friends on board, Maybelle in one of her swift moves ahead of the event has paid a visit to the venue, the Cramton Auditorium. The executive producer has not yet disclosed the purpose of this visit to media men, but it is imagine she went there to assess the level of preparedness ahead of the event. I n a subsequent update, TIPTOPSTARS will be publishing an exclusive interview with the executive with the visit to Cramton as major highlight.

Voting continues

Meantime, fans of artists nominated have continued to vote for their stars. Who emerges on what category and grabs home the coveted trophy is what will be known on July 28 at the now too popular event venue, Cramton.

Affaire a suivre…

Akere-Maimo J. Ano-Ebie who doubles as the Advocacy & Communication Officer of Malaria Consortium-Cameroon Coalition Against Malaria (MC-CCAM) and President-Founder of his brainchild, TalentzAXIS, was selected for this prestigious program through the US Embassy in Cameroon.
