2015 came with sufficiently good tidings for Cameroonian actress Ade Kelly. The Buea-based star in Bad Angel had not completely recovered from the joyous stupor of a TV series accomplishment when yet another remarkable achievement came beckoning – a Bachelor of Arts, BA in Bilingual Letters from the University of Buea in Cameroon.
“Yes! Finally, it went down today,” Kelly wrote on Facebook on December 19, 2015, the day of her graduation from Cameroon’s first Anglo-Saxon university. “I thank God for giving me the strength to pull through,” she went on. Understandably, the movie actress whose recent strides have conveniently placed her on the front roll of her country’s film industry, had to ingenuously interweave acting and studies, one would conjecture. But her conscious attachment to both lanes, hard work and the support from her peers, ferried Kelly across. “Thanks to everyone who believed in me,” she wrote.
Congratulatory messages from colleagues, friends and even news editors have since thronged the actresses social media space. In one of such messages, the editor of TIPTOPSTARS wrote: “TIPTOPSTARS is usually proud of young people who genuinely display mastery in their respective gifted areas of art. We are glad and ready to encourage them when they make limitless efforts in exploring these talents as a way of contributing their own little quota to the country's art and culture development. We are even more pleased when these young and dynamic people show proof of a sound academic backing. This helps us defend our thesis that music/movies/fashion designing/modeling/painting, etc, are not for unfocused people. In fact, artists are some of the most brilliant people we can think of. It takes ingenuity to be productive. So, as you guys help us in dislocating such erroneous claims, we wish to extend our heartfelt congratulations to actress Ade Kelly…”
Ade Kelly who now becomes a first degree holder in Bilingual Letters told Apex 1 Radio (www.apex1radio.com) recently that language versatility is one of her acting strengths. “I can perform in both English and French with no difficulty,” she had stressed. Bilingualism is naturally an added impetus to Cameroonian performing art due to the country’s linguistic background and actors such as the new grad would easily cut across both divides.
In recent months, Ade Kelly has become even more familiar to the ordinary Cameroonian TV viewer through Bad Angel, a Premier Films series, currently being screened on CRTV and directed by Elvis Tanwie aka De Dadies. Before the series, the young actress who draws inspiration from Solange Yijika featured in other movies including My Gallery, A Little Lie, A Little Kill and Coffee for The Dead. She has also starred in Chasing Tails, produced by Syndy Emade and directed by Elvis Tanwie.

African A list actor, John Dumelo has said he will ensure that Cameroonian actors are flown to his country to feature in Ghanaian movies. Dumelo was speaking to Apex 1 Radio (www.apex1radio.com) during a live coverage of the premiere of Unconditional Love, a Cameroonian movie which he directed and is starring in. The event was taking place at the Hotel Residence Carlos in Buea, South West region of Cameroon.
The Ghanaian movie star said he was opting for such collaboration because he had observed that Cameroon, its filmmakers and actors have enough potential. Also, the people of the Central Africa nation whose film industry is fast-growing are interestingly hospitable and that inspires him to ride further with this newfound relationship. Also speaking to the USA-based radio station, known for its great interest in art and culture issues, Dumelo announced an April 2016 project he hopes to execute in Cameroon.
It should be noted that John Dumelo is visiting Cameroon for the second time. He first came to the country in 2013 to star in My Gallery, a film produced by Gold Age Entertainment and directed by Enah Johnscott, also featuring Ade Kelly, Desmond Wyte, Brenda Elung and Solange Ojong. During that maiden visit, the Ghanaian actor is reported to have donated books and other didactic materials to pupils in a primary school in the Limbe area. Dumelo who has been in Cameroon for over a week now is accompanying the Unconditional Love team, led by USA-based Princess Manka, to premiere the movie. He has already been to Kumba, Yaounde, Buea and Douala. Shot in the USA, Unconditional Love is directed by John Dumelo and is also starring Sandra Fon Dufe and Princess Manka.
Mouth-watering Cameroonian music videos are the order of the day today. If in the diaspora, Cameroonian singers and their videographers have stepped up the game, back home the young boys and girls have literally beautified the pudding to extents where they are savoured with inexplicable appetites. That Cameroonian music videos are masterpieces is no deniable fact anymore. They are simply great!
Belgium-based Suh Clovis is not an exception. His Troweh is a fine piece of artistic work that pricks the music taste bud. The track itself injects music pleasure irrevocably, yet it pins a strong message that clams down on evil doers. In the track, the young contemporary singer reminds perpetrators of evil that life is too short to rubbish it. The rest of the story is what you would grasp fro the beautifully crafted piece. Enjoy Troweh!
Vumomse will one year older on December 8. Unlike his past birthday celebrations, the USA-based Cameroonian gospel artist intends to make this year’s version unique. The author of Rakata (a Vumomse hit track that was nominated for the 2015 AFRIMA Awards) will be sharing a divine birthday gift with his fans, in a bid to celebrate victory which he has found in loving the Lord. The said gift, Victory, is his latest Single which has been brilliantly crafted to suit the taste of lovers of contemporary Afropop gospel.
Described in a release sent to our newsroom as spectacular and astounding, Victory declares that humans as we are possess the singular privilege to dominate the world that comprises other creatures. This prowess comes from God who deserves to be praised unconditionally.
According to Vumomse, the 3.27-minute-long track, featuring Kiflex took him and his team two weeks to complete. It was recorded in the Best Music Inc. Studio and Dre Studio in Michigan and just like Vumomse’s other tracks, Victory is the handiwork of award-winning producer Slimbeatz.
Perhaps the highlight of the December 8 Vumomse birthday present will be the release of a dance video by award-winning Triplets Ghetto Kids that will accompany the new Single. The said child dancing group from Uganda has been a huge attraction, not only in East Africa or the entire continent, but to the rest of the world. That Vumomse would be cajoled by the dexterous displays of the kid dancers is no surprise. The Michigan-based gospel artist himself is a heroic choreographer whose performance held scores of Cameroonians spellbound in the 90s during Vumomse’s secondary and high school days.
It should be recalled that Vumomse who has just returned to the USA from Nigeria was nominated for the 2015 AFRIMA Awards with Rakata, the main track in his maiden album. He has since the release of the said album been dropping properly-crafted videos including that of Satan Dey Feel Ma Bad and Do Me Again.
WardRobe is one! One year on, the fashion shop that is now known to make men and women look gorgeous has kept waxing on strong. In Cameroon’s economic capital where the number one fashion house is situated, residents are announcing that WardRobe is meeting their fashion needs to satisfactory proportions since its coming to the city.
“My knack for stylish outfit has increased ten folds since WardRobe opened its doors – the shop has a comfortable place on my fashion taste bud,” Carine, a Bonamoussadi Douala resident told TIPTOPSTARS.
“Each time I visit WardRobe, I go home with something valuable – in fact, the shop is an added value to my fashion life,”Fidele, another Douala resident reported to us.
To Gregoire, his home wardrobe has basically been transformed to Mode Maison PR WardRobe’s extraordinary outfit. “The shop makes me look like a showbiz icon,” the costumer stated.
Just like these three, scores of other WardRobe customers have indicated their inseparable bond with the fashion shop. To MMPR WardRobe officials, it is the commitment to provide their clientele the best, set from inception, that explains this current success and positive feedback the shop is enjoying. It is this success story WardRobe is representing in grand style as the shop celebrates its first anniversary.
Vault, a bilingual fashion quarterly is what WardRobe is receiving as it first anniversary gift. Launched online, the fashion and beauty magazine showcases the sassy and distinguished outfit and beauty items that the shop markets. “The idea of a magazine came about from wanting to do something spectacular to celebrate the first anniversary of WardRobe – we wanted to re-tell our story,”Cynthia Tabe, CEO of MMPR told TIPTOPSTARS from London.
“I had toyed about with the idea of starting a newsletter, but each time I felt uninspired and quite bored with it. Creating a magazine just became more appropriate, given that most people, from all indications quickly fall in love with mags than newsletters,” the UK-based corporate communication specialist who doubles as editor of Vault added.
According to Tabe, the maiden edition of vault took her two months to edit. “I was on it every blessed day,” said the editor.
In volume one which can be found online by clicking on http://issuu.com/modemaisonpr/docs/vault_magazine_issue_one.Vault apart from displaying its en vogue outfit, profile Brenda Biya, daughter of the Cameroonian Head of State who has been prominent on social media within the past couple of months. It also carries articles related to MMPR and WardRobe as well as adverts. “You really don’t need to go elsewhere for beauty, fashion and hair care tips than to Vault,” she explained.
Packaged in short, concise and interesting write-ups, the 30-page magazine is already benefitting from an encouraging feedback. “I just read through and must say Cynthia and team did a great job. I have always trusted MMPR for the professional manner in which it operates,” Andrew told us. According to the Ohio, USA lover of fashion, WardRobe is more than a shop. “I call it a project that has the capacity to completely turn the Cameroonian fashion mindset around,” he explained.
It should be recalled the MMPR WardRobe was launched last year and is situated at the Bonamoussadi neighbourhood in Douala.
