solomomMention the name Solomon Atah to any Cameroonian living in South Africa and be sure to have a positive remark! “He’s one ingenuous Cameroonian I’d bet for any day, anytime. He is so gifted and does whatever thing he does with a lot of seriousness and exactitude,” a South Africa-based Cameroonian had told this writer long before Atah joined the African Cocktail team as correspondent in Africa’s second leading economy.

This ingenuity was going to be discovered when the young Cameroonian, who amongst several other things, is an expert in television production came on board the weekly magazine show broadcast every Wednesday (10:30am to 1pm Eastern Time) on Afrikka Radio (www.afrikkaradio.com). For the past couple of months, Atah has held listeners of the show spellbound with his contributions, described as well-packaged and palatable reports. In them, the indefatigable field writer and broadcaster paints the picture of the political, economic, social and entertainment situation of South Africa. He has had to spice the show on several occasions with breaking news items such as the recent re-election of Jacob Zuma. Examples abound!

Perhaps, Atah style is what seems to have cajoled listeners of the mid-week more. “He doesn’t just deliver as though he is reading, Solomon discusses the news item with salient explanations that situate the listener. I enjoy his gradual but steady pace,” an Ohio listener of African Cocktail said of the show’s SA correspondent.

For one thing, Atah’s mastery of the English language, characterized by his appropriate choice of words, his mastery of the subject matter and his promptness on happening are an added impetus to his contribution. His South-South Connect slot on African Cocktail is one of the items that make the show tick, there is no doubt about this! He can be followed on Twitter : https://twitter.com/SolomonAtah
