Adela Elad is a movie actress who loves the seventh art with an overflowing passion. This passion is usually translated to her set performance, generally acclaimed to be appealing. Her thoughts, especially the ones expressed publicly, revolve around the filmmaking/acting. This may create the impression that the Cameroonian movie icon who is based in Limbe in the South west region of the country, has no other thing she habours in her heart. No! She definitely does. Women! The girl child! Children as a whole! Charity!
Just as concerned as she is with the movies, the actress cum producer has a heart that beats towards the direction of giving – giving to a socially vulnerable class – especially children who are less fortunate. “These people often get relegated to the background and I strongly think they should rather be elated,” the actress had told Apex 1 Radio some time ago.
It is in line with this thought that Adela created MAE Foundation, a NGO through which less privileged women and children could be supported. Since then, the actress has paid attention on orphans, making charity visits to orphanages in the process.
Perhaps, the most soul-searching of the actress’ charity visits is the latest, carried out at the Limbe-based Save The Children Alliance Orphanage where she celebrated her birthday with the kids on October 25. Casually, yet cutely dressed, the lead actress in University Girls who doubles as producer of the upcoming Night in The Grass Field, distributed groceries to the beneficiaries as well as shared words of comfort with the kids.
When she shared pictures of the charity visited on social media, Adela visibly felt satisfied to have spent her birthday offering love, care and comfort to people who needed it. To the actress, there is nothing as salient as life which is the uncontestable outcome of the love of God. If the haves have a better life, it is but normal that they ensure a better on as well for the have-nots.  “I couldn’t ask for more,” she simply said.
Today considered as one of the leading actresses in her country, Adela Elad who is completely bilingual (speaks English and French fluently) has starred in several films including Bad Angel (series on CRTV), Invisible Eye, U-Turn and Envious Minds.
